Nowadays a 3-high stand is assembled at EZTM JSC. The stand has been manufactured for the reeler of a tube rolling plant operated at Volzhsky Pipe Plant. The manufactured working stand is a fifth-generation unit designed by EZTM JSC and operated in Assel mills which are widely used in Russia and CIS and far-abroad countries.

The following new concepts used in the stand design allow to roll thin-walled (D/S>10) and small-diameter (Ø<80 mm) tubes:

-         installation of overhang rolls with large rolling angle creates favorable conditions for metal flow in the deformation zone and decreases effect of tangential forces leading to flared ends formation;

-         the overhang rolls with large rolling angle allow to roll small diameter tubes due to the roll assembly second support released from the rolling zone which prevents stand passes being drawn together.

Another method of rolling of thin-walled tubes free from flared ends is rolls opening performed by a high-speed screw-down structure.

This stand design is patented.
