A new hot blast valve Ø 1100 mm of blast furnace heaters has been designed by "EZTM" JSC.
All modern solutions used at Russian and foreign metallurgical works are implemented in the valve design.
All thermally loaded elements of the valve other than disk contact surfaces and housing thrust rings are protected with refractory lining.Housing cooling system allows to cool effectively the thrust rings - the most thermally loaded elements of the valve - as well as attachment flanges and body neck zone which provide normal working conditions of flange packings.
The valve disk is a solid shell with spiral partitions forming a disk cooling system.Cooling water velocity both in the housing and in the disk is above 1 m/sec which ensures removal of mechanical suspensions and eliminates the danger of cooling ducts blockage. Cooling water total discharge is 28 m3/h per valve (18 m3/h per housing and 10 m/h per disk).
Significant reduction of cooling water discharge and maximal protection of thermally loaded elements with refractory lining allow to decrease heat losses of the valve.It is necessary to note that in order to increase lining durability modern reinforcing elements featured by ability to keep the refractory materials are used.
A well-behaved material based on the thermal expanded graphite is used in "housing-cover" flange packing and stuffing-box seals of tubes supplying cooling water to the valve disk. During manufacturing process the valves are under all basic tests including air and leak ones.
The new hot blast valve is patented in the Russian Federation.The new hot blast valve has already been manufactured and supplied to "Severstal" JSC where it is under industrial tests now.
