Cold rolling tube mill 40-8



The mill is intended for production of high-accuracy tubes made from carbon, alloy and stainless steels as well as non ferrous metals and alloys with maximum strength in initial state up to 850 MPa.

The mill has a stationary power housing and a travelling cassette with working and backup rolls. It has butt end load of a billet fed into a deformation zone. A vertical planetary-crank drive with a counterbalance system balances dynamic loads. Technological scheme of rolling is double feed and turn in the extreme back position of a stand.

Important features of the mill are as following:

  • high speed of rolling;
  • quick roll changing;
  • steady feed and turn angle;
  • possibility to regulate mandrel position in the deformation zone and to correct tube outer diameter from the control panel;
  • performance of the technological scheme of rolling with double feed and turn in the extreme back position of the stand.

Important design features of the mill are as following:

  1. the use of the vertical single-flow planetary-crank drive with linear motion of the crank. The drive counterbalance system balances dynamic loads.
  2. the working stand consisting of the stationary power housing and the travelling cassette (quarto) with working and backup rolls with ring passes allows to automatically regulate desirable gaps between the passes from the control panel. It is possible to mount rolling force sensors on the stationary power housing.
  3. each device performing working feed or turn of the billet is provided with a planetary-crank transducer of continuous rotation into intermittent one from an individual electric drive which rotation is synchronized with the main drive with the help of "electric shaft" system. The use of the transducer allows to obtain an accurate feed and turn irrespective of the mill strokes number.
